Independence Day 2008

Well, we had a fun day. My church had their 2nd Annual 4th of July party. We got there about 6:30 and staked out our spot to see the fireworks later on. It wasn't hot out like it had been last year (it was terrribly hot) but there was a theat of a storm a brewing. Anway, the church had food like, hotdogs, nachos, cupcakes, popcorn, and we brought a watermelon and some friends brought some homemade mango icecream.

We had one of our local Christian radio stations there, Love 89.1 which made it nice as we didn't have them there last year. Also, this year they had different characters there for the kids. There was Mickey and Minnie Mouse

there was Elmo

there was also Dora, Blues Clues, and Bryce's all time favorite Spiderman!! I took him to go and see him but it scared him and he took off running. Later, he must have got his courage up and decided he wanted to go and talk to him. So, we found him and Bryce told him that he could shoot spiderwebs and could jump real high just like him. He never would get really close to him but I was able to get this one picture.

My little cousin Lolly came with us and it was great that she was there to help me watch Bryce because the place was packed and he was running around like a little banshee. It was getting around 9pm and the wind picked up something awful and it started thundering and lightning. I think we all must have prayed for God to stop the storm from coming because it never got any closer. So, we had our firework show.

All in all it was a great day! And I am so thankful to be an American!!!

I've Been Tagged

Well, I must say that I have never been tagged before now. Thanks Kim! So now I have to answer the following questions that she asked.

1. What was I doing ten years ago...hmmm, I was working for a community college; I went to Iceland for the second time; had my 5th anniversary with my second husband and my mom was battling Breast Cancer.

2. Five things on todays to do list...pick up new glasses (yeah, I can see again), sweep the deck around the pool, clean pool, bathe dog and breakdown and get me a milkshake from the Dairy Queen.

3. Snacks I enjoy...Rice Krispy Treats; chewy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies; fruit; chips and salsa.

4. Things I would do if I was a millionaire...I honestly would tithe the first 10% to my church; pay off my mom's house; put money away for my kids and grandchild; and travel.

5. Places that I have lived...OMG! Let's see. Portland and Salem, Oregon; Buzzard's Bay, Massachusetts; Toledo, Ohio, Miami, St. Cloud, Leisure City, and Homestead AFB Florida; Vonore, Lenoir City, and Knoxville, Tennessee; Dallas, Texas and Spangdahlem AFB Germany.

Well, these are my answers so now I have to tag a few of my fellow bloggers. Let me know when you post your answers so I can check them out.

I tag: Carole at beutifulfamily.blogspot.com

Busy day...doctor appointments and a wedding

All week it has been go to the doctors. Tuesday, I went to the eye doctor and I have to get new glasses, but I expected that. Actually looking forward in getting my new glasses so I can see much better and I like the frames that I picked out.

Wednesday, my mom had to have a colonoscopy and they could only see 60% of the colon so they sent her to have a barium enema so they could try and see the remaining 40%. So we go to the other side of town to have this done only to be told to come back on Thursday (yesterday) because she still had too much air in her from the scope. We have to be at the doctor at 9:30am to try the test again but of course the doctor is running behind. It is after 12:00 when we leave but the test did get done this time. Now, my prayers are that there is no cancer. Cancer is so rampant on both sides of my family and mom is already a cancer survivor. The reason for this scope is because she is chronically anemic. Hopefully, today we will find out the results of the second test and it won't be cancer. So, anyone who reads this and you feel like it, please say a pray for her that they find no cancer.

After getting home I headed to my church to help decorate for a wedding that is happening on Saturday. I don't know the couple that is getting married but I know of the bride's parents. It was actually a stress buster for me and got my mind off my mom. I helped decorate the sanctuary and I will be going back this morning to help finish up.

After I came home I had the urge to make some more cards and here they are:

Birthdays Are Awful

Well, my birthday was on Sunday and it was horrible. It wasn't so much of the age that I was turning it was certain people that made it not so pleasant. And not only that, this is the second time that my birthday has fell on Father's Day and it makes it pretty sad because my father is no longer here.

I had invited quite a few people to come over for a cookout but obviously it wasn't a good time being that it was Father's Day and people had plans to be with their dads and families. Oh well, maybe next year will be better.

My grandson sure did have a wonderful time playing in the swimming pool. He is just like a little water dog.

Not only was my grandson having such a good time, my son's dog, Capone loved being in the pool. You'd take him out and he would always want to get back in.

I am still on my card making kick. I made 3 last night and 2 tonight. Here they are:

This is a thank you so much card.

As you can see this is a Hi card.

A Happy Birthday card.

The inside of this card says, "What a pair!"
and this last card on the inside says, "You are the apple of my eye."

Cards I Made

Boy, I've been looking at a lot of blogs and there are some ladies out there that do awesome work. I can't believe how beautiful their cards are. I wish I knew how to make mine look like theirs. I've noticed that they all seem to use Copic pens and I would love to learn how to use them. So, if anyone who uses them and reads this, and could give me a few tips on using them, I would appreciate it very much.

I hate to post my pitiful little cards but I will for a couple of my friends and family members who likes to look at them.

The left corner opens up and it says inside, "You're the cat's meow!"

This was a first for making a card in this shape. It turned out okay.

I added some felt circles and a arrow to this card. I kind of like it.

Well, this is enough of my junk for now.

I'm Still Looking...

that is for a job. I had another interview yesterday but I don't have any gut feelings about it one way or the other. This job from what I can gather is pretty much an assistant for this man's wife. He is very wealthy, he owns a construction company, 3 office complexes and an apartment complex. I would be helping her manage things at their home, plan and help set up for parties (he said they did a lot of entertaining), cooking and I told him I didn't cook that my husband was the cook in the family and he said well as long as there is food there for someone to cook, help take the mother-in-law places like to the beauty salon, doctors appointments and wherever. And also it sounded like I would be helping clean the office complexes. So, it basically sounds like a little bit of everything. He had 2 more people he wanted to talk to.

I had to take my mom to the doctor today as she had to have someone drive her home. She had an endoscopy and they found one pollup in her esophagus and they removed it and will send it off for a biopsy. And next week I have to take her back for a colonoscopy. The doctor said she is chronically anemic and they have to find out where the blood is coming from.

I've been making some more cards and altered a couple of things today. I altered a compositon book, a tin with six mini cards and 5 other cards. I only came back upstairs to get some supper.

I've Lost It

My scrappin' and card making mojo is gone. I made cards all day yesterday and I go today to my lss to scrap with some of my friends and I was there from 10am until 3pm and all I made was 3 cards. It was like everything I tried to do I just messed it up. But, I took my bag of cards with me to show some of the girls what I had made and I sold one of my cards today for $5.00! I told the lady that I didn't want that much but she insisted that I take it. Here is the card that she bought:

Here are a couple of other cards that I made: and this one: and this one: and this will be the last one that I post:
